Annual Lambing Trip to Newlands Farm

Farm volunteers were lucky enough to experience some hands on farming last week as both our Adult and Young volunteers enjoyed our annual trip to our friends at Newlands Farm, Margam, a commercial sheep farm. And what better time to visit than lambing season! Thanks to the wonderful Williams family who welcomed us for the sixth year in a row with their amazing hospitality, even providing some home-made cakes and snacks for us. Diolch.

Not only did our volunteers get to feed and cuddle some lambs (and even help one be born) but we were also lucky enough to meet with their beautiful orphaned calf 'Jammy Dodger'. Just the perfect way to boost our moods, and help enjoy a moment of calm and peace. Now that's some good therapy!

Our volunteers asked lots of great questions to make the most of the Williams’ expertise and they all loved it so much they didn’t want to leave!

Volunteer Christina said: ‘I liked to feed the baby lambs and the baby cow. I loved looking at all the different kinds of animals and watching the baby lamb being born. I loved seeing what was going on up there on a different farm’.

Roedd gwirfoddolwyr fferm yn ddigon ffodus i gael profiad ymarferol o ffermio'r wythnos diwethaf wrth i'n gwirfoddolwyr Oedolion ac Ifanc fwynhau ein taith flynyddol i'n ffrindiau yn Newlands Farm, Margam, fferm sy'n enwog am ei harbenigedd mewn hwsmonaeth defaid. A pha amser gwell i ymweld na thymor ŵn! Diolch i'r teulu Williams anhygoel a groesawsom ni am y chweched flwyddyn yn olynol gyda'u lletygarwch anhygoel, hyd yn oed yn darparu cacennau a byrbrydau cartref i ni. Diolch.

Nid yn unig y cafodd ein gwirfoddolwyr fwydo a bwydo ŵyn (a hyd yn oed helpu un i gael ei eni) ond roeddem hefyd yn ddigon ffodus i gael cwtsh gyda'u llo 'Jammy Dodger'. Nawr mae hynny'n therapi da! Nid oedd ein gwirfoddolwyr eisiau gadael ar ddiwedd y dydd sydd bob amser yn arwydd o amser da.
