It's been a little while since we've given an update on all things farm. Well, spring has finally sprung and we're excited to start planning for the summer months ahead. If you follow us on our socials (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), you'll have a pretty good idea about what's been happening. If not, then read on to find out some highlights and take a look at the exciting events we have coming up.

Save the Date! Green Match Fund (22nd - 29th April)

We're kicking things off with a save the date for our special Green Match Fund week. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we're excited to announce a week of events and fundraising from April 22nd to 29th. Thanks to the Big Give Green Match Fund, we're aiming to raise £10,000 in just one week, which will be DOUBLED to £20,000! These funds will support our 'Plant Penderry' project, connecting our community with urban wildlife through hands-on activities and youth-led eco-events. We invite you to join us in this celebration and contribute to our ongoing efforts to nurture community and environmental wellbeing.

Make A Difference Monday

If you have been following us on social media you’ll notice that we have been highlighting some of the amazing things the farm has to offer, how we make a difference as a charity and community project and how so many of our community members make a difference to us. There’s such variety, from volunteers sharing their amazing, personal stories, to local businesses showing their support. Our New Accessible Bathroom has Arrived

We’re so excited to reveal our brand-new bathroom renovations at the farm – and the biggest upgrade? An adjustable hoist in our accessible bathroom!

We’re committed to making the farm as welcoming and inclusive as possible. Having an adjustable hoist means that more people with mobility needs can enjoy everything the farm has to offer with dignity, ease, and comfort.

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund - Awards for All for funding this important addition.

Social Prescribing Day

On March 19th we celebrated the power of nature, community, and meaningful connections in supporting health and wellbeing – by honouring the farm’s very own Dr. Katharine!

Yep, little did you know… our brilliant Operations Manager, Katharine, is actually Dr. Katharine Aylett – and she has recently had a paper published alongside Dr. Menna Brown, Senior Lecturer at Swansea University.

"Interrogating Green Social Prescribing in South Wales; A Multi-Stakeholder Qualitative Exploration" explores how nature-based activities can be a game-changer for health and wellbeing. Their research dives into different perspectives on green social prescribing, which is exactly what today is all about – recognising that many health challenges, like loneliness, isolation, anxiety and stress, can’t be treated with medicine alone.

Their findings reinforce the power of social prescribing – connecting people to non-medical support, like farm volunteering, can be truly life-changing. A massive congratulations to Katharine and Menna – we’re so lucky to have them leading the way!

Upcoming Events

Friday 18th April - Easter Eggstravaganza

For those of you who have attended our previous half-term Easter playscheme events, you know how fun they are. We'll have our annual Easter Bonnet Parade (11:30am), led by the Easter Bunny! We'll also have arts and crafts, treasure hunts and meet the animals. It's a day not to be missed.

Postcode Gardener Launch!

During our event on the 18th, we will also be launching our special 2 year funded Post Code Gardener project to engage our community and encourage nature back into the area and support both people and wildlife. Staff member Katharine will be in our allotment area from 10am-12pm to share the exciting plans.

Friday 25th April - Minibeast Playscheme

Our second playscheme is also very special as it will be taking place during our Green Match Fund Week - which means all donations made to the farm will be doubled! Not only that, but you get the chance to take part in the awesome City Nature Challenge, where you can enjoy a minibeast safari, discover pond dipping and explore the wonderful nature on Cadle Heath.

Again, there is need to book. Cash donations and Green Match Fund Dontions very welcome!

25 Year Anniversary Summer Solstice Party!

We have another important SAVE THE DATE! On June 21st, we will be hosting an fantastic community event where we will be celebrating 25 years of Swansea Community Farm.

The plans are in motion to bring you live music, delicious food, summer solstice celebrations, and SO MUCH more.

It's set to be a fantastic day so mark your calendars and join us for as day of celebration. More information coming very soon.
