Stitching a Sustainable Future: Empowering Communities Through Reusable Period Products

Volunteering at the Farm offers a diverse range of training and skill building. Not only do volunteers and staff members learn outdoor farming skills but they also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities providing them with transferable skills. This was evident last week when some of our volunteers and staff members took part in a sewing workshop to create reusable period pads, empowering themselves with the skills to create sustainable, eco-friendly alternatives for menstrual health.

As the Farm is an environmental and wellbeing project we want to promote green infrastructure, teach about reducing, reusing and recycling and promote sustainable solutions. Encouraging the use of eco-friendly and reusable period products that have a lower impact on the environment and are more cost-effective in the long term, is key towards our overall mission.

By supporting skill building initiatives that empower individuals to produce reusable and sustainable period products, it really does create opportunities for economic empowerment within the community.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Swansea Council's Period Dignity in Communities Funding, and to Charlotte from Twin Made and Becca from Silly Panda for creating a fun, informative and engaging workshop.
