Welcome back!
Happy New Year and welcome to our first post of 2023. We hope you have had a relaxing Christmas break and made it through what seems like a very long January. Our staff, animals and volunteers enjoyed a well-deserved rest but are happy to be back for the start of the new year. Our opening hours remain the same: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 10am – 4pm. Our café remains closed for the time being, but we hope to open it more often on our special event days throughout the year.
Some amazing things took place throughout 2022, and it was nice to get back to a little 'normality' after Covid 19. But whilst we are happy to welcome back our volunteers and community members, we are still very aware of the problems that face us as we move into 2023. Due to the cost-of-living crisis not only is it putting a strain on our Farm resources, but a recent report by the Mental Health Foundation states that 'People living in poverty or experiencing financial stress are more likely to develop mental health problems.' and 'We expect that the effects of the cost-of-living crisis on public mental health will be on a scale similar to the COVID-19 pandemic.' This is why it is more important than ever that the Farm continues to offer important wellbeing services for those who need support in the Swansea Community as we expect to see a higher demand on our services.
How can you help?
Swansea Community Farm is an independent local charity. We rely on donations to survive! Every donation we receive enables us to offer activities for those most in need and maintain our green spaces for people and wildlife.
We are grateful for one off donations of any size, however the best way to support the Farm is to become a regular MONTHLY DONOR. This enables us to better plan for future and support the ongoing needs of our community. We understand times are tough but if you are in a position to support the Farm, please click here for details on how you can help.
